Our Mission

Raising awareness and resources for homeless dogs and the heroes who fight for them.

What WE do at Who Will Let the Dogs Out (affectionately called Waldo)

TRAVEL to shelters and rescues all over the country to gather and share their stories because we believe the problem of too many adoptable dogs suffering and dying in this country exists not because people don’t care, but because they don’t know.

RAISE AWARENESS through journalism, photography, and film. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, and read stories of the shelters we visit on our blog.

ASSIST shelters and rescues with grant seeking, resources, ideas, and solutions through personal mentorship, networking, and our growing Resource Guide.

INVITE everyone to be a part of the solution by networking and collaborating with other rescue/advocacy organizations, and by providing volunteer opportunities with our organization and within our shelter and rescue network. To find out what you can do, click here.

To date, we’ve been to 82 shelters/rescue organizations in eleven states! If you know of a shelter or rescue that could benefit from connecting with us, please reach out to us: info@whowillletthedogsout.org.

If you would like to help individual shelters we have visited, you can find information about how to do that on our Partner Shelters and Rescues page.

If you are a shelter or rescue, please check out our Resource Guide which has a list grant opportunities, plus lots of ideas for fundraising, community engagement, volunteer and foster programs, shelter practices, enrichment, children’s education, and other resources specifically to help shelters and rescues.

Waldo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and 100% volunteer run.
