Help Us Help Them
Every penny donated goes toward our work raising awareness and resources for homeless dogs and the heroes who fight for them. Everyone involved in Who Will Let the Dogs Out is a volunteer- we have no paid staff. We are a 501c3 organization.
What do we use the money for?
Shelter tours are by far our biggest expense. Beyond basic travel expenses (we stay with friends and pack our food as much as possible!), we bring supplies to every shelter we visit, checking with each organization before our trip so we can provide items they need most. To date, we have traveled to 120 shelter and rescue organizations in 12 states.
We believe that awareness is the key to change, and use your donations to spread the word through online advertisements, our website, marketing materials, and most recently, a short documentary. Amber’s Halfway Home was selected for fifteen film festivals, won more than a dozen awards, and was nominated for an Emmy. Watch it here.
Thanks to a generous Grant-to-re-grant from the ASPCA and donations like yours, we give ‘instant grants’ to help shelters with immediate needs, bypassing the lengthy, complicated traditional grant system (which we also help them navigate).
Our most exciting (and practical) project is creating a resource book both online and in paper book form to gather information in one place with ideas for fundraising, volunteer recruitment/retention/management, foster practices/programs, community engagement, education outreach, advocacy, grant writing/applications, shelter practices/policies, and enrichment.
